Job Purpose
The purpose of Production Mechanic is to assemble and install generator sets and related equipment. The person in this job must work successfully in a cross-functional team with electricians and welders.
Main Responsibilities
1) Read mechanical drawings and get clarifications from the production
supervisor and/or design engineers to clear any ambiguity before starting
2) Check and familiarize with the components before assembly
3) Report any defective parts to the production supervisor
4) Discuss any issues regarding the drawings with supervisor and concerned
team members of Engineering department
5) Highlight to production supervisor faulty equipment
6) Highlight to production supervisor any delay in meeting deadlines
7) Maintain toolbox as per the standard and report any shortages of tools or
consumables to the production supervisor
8) Pay attention to his personal safety and that of others in the work area
9) Expected to strictly adhere to the health and safety guidelines
Skills
Qualifications and Relevant Certifications
Relevant Trade certificate
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Basic knowledge of mechanical work, tools and process
Proficient in reading technical drawings
Hands on experience in assembly of industrial equipment including motors,
pumps and alignment of rotating equipment.
Adheres to safe work practices
Experience in alignment of Diesel Engine & Alternator will be an advantage
Understanding of Torque specifications as per OEM requirements and the
tools used to implement, e.g., Torque wrench, Vernier caliper etc.)
Must be able to understand technical English used in OEM documentation
Troubleshooting (Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what
to do about it)
Equipment Selection (Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed
to do a job.)
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers and
decimals
Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of
alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems)
Controlling operations of equipment or systems
Hands on experience in assembly of equipment including motors, pumps
Alignment of rotating equipment
Knowledge of diesel engine and its major components
Minimum experience of 4 years experience
Preference is for candidates who have experience of at least an year in
equipment assembling plants.
