Job Description

The MEP Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems in building projects, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical components. The role involves collaborating with electrical and plumbing engineers to ensure integrated MEP solutions that meet project requirements, safety standards, and sustainability guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design & Engineering:
  • Develop mechanical designs for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Perform load calculations, system sizing, and ductwork/piping design.
  • Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, and local building codes.
  • Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
  1. Project Coordination & Execution:
  • Collaborate with electrical and plumbing teams for MEP integration.
  • Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and contractors to ensure proper implementation.
  • Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure work aligns with design specifications.
  1. Technical & Quality Assurance:
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem-solving for mechanical system issues.
  • Conduct performance testing for HVAC, piping, and firefighting systems.
  • Ensure compliance with energy efficiency and sustainability standards.
  1. Documentation & Reporting:
  • Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and as-built drawings.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules and system modifications.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and project budgeting.

Skills

 Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in MEP mechanical design and site supervision.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, Elite Software, and CFD analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, and piping systems.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, and LEED guidelines.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
