Summary:
The position of Field Engineer involves on-site responsibilities including the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of synchronous and induction machines, as well as associated systems. Essential Responsibilities:
- Execute installation, commissioning, refurbishment, startup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of synchronous and induction machines, and excitation & AVR systems.
- Respond to emergency repair requests.
- Offer technical guidance to customers on installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at their locations.
- Prepare technical reports, order materials, secure quotations, and maintain job status documentation accurately and promptly.
- Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor on-site.
- Uphold safety standards in all work executed according to GE safety requirements.
- Create precise technical reports for customer records and future reference.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution, or an Associate’s Degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of field experience with rotating machines.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Willingness to travel approximately 80% of the time.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work remotely when required.
Desired Characteristics:
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Prior field engineering experience is preferred.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Previous experience with motors and generators is a plus.
