Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
The Senior Commercial Specialist is responsible to manage and oversee the commercial activities related to contract negotiations, cost estimation, bidding and commercial activities during contract execution.
The ideal candidate shall have strong technical and commercial acumen, excellent customer relationship management skills, and experience in the GCC market.
The Senior Commercial Specialist shall assume the responsibility of developing business plans including budgeting and forecasting for short and long term projects.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with company standards.
- Lead and manage the preparation and submissions of bids, tenders and proposals including required coordination with the engineering team.
- Conduct cost estimation, price analysis, and evaluate RFQs to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
- Commercial activities during contract execution such as VO negotiation, delivery, payment collection etc.
- Assess and mitigate credit risks by providing insights on payments terms, guarantees, and financial stability of clients.
- Promote and develop new businesses through PQ applications.
- Prepare detailed reports on commercial activities, biding outcomes, and contract performance for internal stakeholders.
- Make and follow-up forecast of order taking, revenue and cash flow.
- Build and maintain a strong customer relationship, action as the primary point of contact for key clients.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including finance, procurement, and engineering to ensure a smooth execution of projects.
- Keep abreast with the market trends, competitor activities, and industry best practices to support business development.
- Assist the project managers in resolving contractual issues related to site acquisition.
- Prepare and develop comprehensive reports, and updates to the HOD (Commercial), providing insights and recommendations for informed decision-making.
- Any other related tasks assigned as per the management’s requirements.
Skills
EDUCATION QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a degree with a related engineering discipline will be preferred.
- A minimum of 11+ years of relevant experience in a commercial role involving contract negotiation, bidding, tendering, and cost estimation.
- Experience in Infrastructure with electrical equipment’s.
- Exposure and experience in the Transmission and distribution industry.
- Previous experience working in the GCC region would be an advantage.
- Willing to travel across GCC countries as per the business needs.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
- Must possess excellent customer relationship management skills, with the ability to foster long-term partnerships.
- Strong understanding of commercial contracts, risk assessment, and its legal implications.
- Advanced proficiency in commercial reporting and analysis tools.
- Demonstrable creative problem solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to present sophisticated information, to a wide audience.
