Job Purpose:
The Senior Transformer Engineer is responsible for the design, development, installation, and maintenance of power transformers within the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) sector.
The role involves technical expertise in transformer engineering, project management, and adherence to industry standards to support Toshiba Energy’s mission of delivering reliable and efficient energy solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead the design and engineering of power transformers for high-voltage transmission and distribution systems.
• Ensure designs comply with international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE) and client specifications.
• Conduct thermal, electrical, and mechanical performance calculations for transformers.
• Oversee transformer installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for installed transformers.
• Provide technical guidance during the project lifecycle, from design to execution.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines and deliverables.
• Perform factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for transformers.
• Ensure all transformers meet quality and performance standards before deployment.
• Address and resolve any non-conformance issues during manufacturing or installation.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues, including transformer failures and performance discrepancies.
• Direct the erection, testing, and commissioning of transformers ensuring seamless coordination across engineering teams and stakeholders.
• Provide technical support for field service teams during maintenance and repair work.
• Ensure all transformer-related activities align with regulatory and safety standards.
• Stay updated on advancements in transformer technology and industry trends.
• Act as the primary technical contact for clients regarding transformer projects.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations to clients and stakeholders.
• Provide training and knowledge-sharing sessions for team members and clients.
• Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including design calculations, test reports, and operation manuals.
• Conduct site surveys for GIT Transformers, and developed topographic plans to take design decisions.
• Maintain accurate records of transformer performance and project milestones.
• Prepare and develop comprehensive reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) as advised by the management.
• Any other related tasks assigned as per the management’s requirements.
